Flowing With Plastics
End Plastic Pollution is urging corporations to phase out single-use plastics and has launched a campaign to save Uganda's River Rwizi, heavily polluted by plastic waste. A report series, starting with River Rwizi, highlights Coca-Cola as a top polluter. Youth leaders and volunteers documented plastic waste along the river, leading to community cleanups and protests despite dangerous conditions. The campaign aims to raise awareness about plastic pollution, hold polluters accountable, and promote zero-waste systems, with significant engagement on social media and a brand audit revealing contributions from 36 companies.
